Out and About
Every once in a while, a Citygirl just has to
get away. As much as I love DC, a change of scenery and a fresh perspective were in order. So a couple of weeks ago, I packed a bag, hopped on Megabus and stayed a few days in my second favorite city, New York City.
A trip to New York is such an affordable weekend getaway thanks to Megabus- round trip to NY for under $40! - and cheap but chic accommodations like The Pod Hotel. Located on E. 51st Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, the Pod is the hotel of choice for hip, frugal day trippers who want location and style on a budget.
The rooms are small - hence the name Pod- but what it lacks in stature it makes up in style. My room was clean, comfortable and decorated with a modern, Ikea-esque aesthetic. Amenities included free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, a cute guest lounge, a rooftop deck and quaint French bistro. All of this within walking distance from some of the best Manhattan shopping I have ever experienced. It is my New York home away from home.
